Psaki made comments on the ongoing crisis in Ukraine at the daily press briefing.
Noting that they are following the tension in the Donbas region closely, Psaki stated that the US officials, especially Joe Biden, emphasized their support for this country in their talks with their Ukrainian counterparts in the last week.
“What will you do in the face of Russia’s increasing aggression?” “This will have visible and invisible consequences, let me underline that. We are in close coordination and negotiations with the allies in the region.” said.
Stating that they cooperate with allied countries on issues such as intelligence sharing on military activity in the region, Psaki noted that diplomatic meetings will not go into details.
Psaki directed a question to the Pentagon about the departure of two US warships to the Black Sea in support of Ukraine.
TENSION ON THE UKRAINE-RUSSIA BORDER
In his speech to the parliament on March 30, Ukrainian Chief of General Staff Ruslan Homçak stated that Russia was sending troops near the borders of Ukraine on the pretext of an exercise.
Regarding the solution of the crisis in the Donbas region, the Trilateral Contact Group, consisting of Russia, Ukraine and the OSCE, had made a comprehensive ceasefire decision as of 27 July 2020.
More than 13,000 people have lost their lives in the clashes between the pro-Russian separatists, who declared their so-called independence in the region, and the Kiev administration since 2014.
