Israeli President Reuven Rivlin spoke to the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) about an attempt by dozens of Israelis to lynch a Palestinian youth in the central Israeli city of Bat Yam.
Rivlin said, “War broke out in our streets. The majority cannot believe what they see and say nothing because they are shocked. We are creating an environment that invites civil war because we are silent,” he said.
“We are citizens of one country and one society,” said President Rivlin, calling on all Arab and Israeli officials in Israel to “tell people not to go crazy.”
“WE SHOULD NOT WIN THE WAR IN GAZZE AND LOSE THE WAR AT HOME”
Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz described the incidents as “shocking” and “nauseating” and said “We should not win the war in Gaza and lose the war at home”.
There were violence between Palestinians and Israelis in cities such as Bat Yam and Acre, especially Lid, where Israeli Palestinians and Jews lived together.
