Among those who protested on the ground, Deputy Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Elena Kondratyuk targeted Defense Minister Andrey Taran. “Mr. Minister of Defense, is this how you bring our country and our army closer to NATO standards? This is an insult,” Kondratyuk said.
Some deputies also presented high-heeled shoes to the Minister of Defense Taran as a reaction. Irina Vereşuk, one of the lawmakers of the ruling party, also reacted to Taran and said, “The high heels that the Minister bought today are a symbolic reminder that it is time to reform and change the attitude.”
