Ukraine becomes the first country to legalize e-ID application


Ukraine, breaking new ground in the world, has legalized the “e-Identity” application, which will be expressed in numerical codes via an application that can be downloaded to smartphones. The digital identity application, which will be valid throughout the country as of August 23, can be used by the citizens to download the “Diia” application to their mobile phones. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy made a statement on the issue, saying, “Ukraine was the first country in the world to legalize this practice. Thanks to those who contributed ”he said.

Mikhail Fedeorov, the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and also the Minister of Digital Transformation, which is the first in the world, said: “The application, which is no different from paper documents and becomes legitimate, will be available from August 23. It is enough to carry a smart phone to benefit from this service. “We did something unique in the world. We need to be proud of it,” he said.

With the Diia application, Ukrainians who will carry their IDs on their phones will be able to perform all their official and personal transactions in the country via this e-ID. In this way, citizens will not need to carry identity cards and similar identities.
