Niger State Governor Atiku Bagudu stated in his statement that the bodies of 6 more people were found during the search and rescue efforts, thus increasing the number of people who lost their lives to 98.
Bagudu noted that the treatment of 26 people who were rescued after the accident continues.
The boat, carrying passengers and goods from Niger state to Kebbi state, capsized in the Ngaski region due to overload. There were around 160 passengers on the boat, which was divided into two.
On May 7, 30 people lost their lives in the state as a result of the sinking of the boat carrying passengers.
