Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers and Operators Association (AKTOB) Vice President Kaan Kavaloğlu said that the whole of Europe will start coming to Turkey from the third week of July.
In his statement, Kavaloğlu stated that Antalya broke the record of the pandemic period with 56 thousand people on June 26, and this is a very serious figure.
Kavaloğlu said, “We closed the month of June with an increase of 190 percent compared to June of 2020. However, the amount reached is not enough. The important thing is that the months of July and August exceed the figures of the previous year. The total number of people coming to Antalya annually has exceeded 1.5 million. But this also needs to be taken into account. “There were no tourists in April and May last year,” he said.
“ALL EUROPE WILL OPEN TO TURKEY TOWARDS THE END OF JULY”
Emphasizing that he thinks the number of German tourists will increase with the Russians gaining weight in July and August, Kavaloğlu said, “Currently, our main problem is the Scandinavian countries, Netherlands, Belgium and England. The last of these countries
England opens. Towards the end of July, I think that all Europe except England will open to Turkey,” he said.
“ONLY GREECE LEFT IN EUROPE’S HANDS”
Pointing out that Turkey has come to the fore with its Safe Tourism Certificate, Kaan Kavaloğlu said, “We need to see what they are doing in our competitor countries. We expected that Europe would put Spain and Greece out as our competitors in tourism. Portugal surprised us. But these countries have not been able to successfully implement the safe tourism certificate application we have implemented,” he said.
Stating that the European Union is trying to create a tourism movement, Kavaloğlu continued as follows:
“When the EU saw that Spain and Greece were not enough in tourism, they also put Portugal into action. However, Portugal could not give a good test during the pandemic period. Portugal is not considered warmly at the moment. There are also problems in some islands of Spain. African countries and Egypt are very In this case, the EU is left with Greece and Turkey for the holiday. It is obvious how much of the arrivals Greece can handle. Turkey has the power of Russia and the CIS. Therefore, all Europe has to offer Turkey to Turkey on the 3rd of July. I think it will open next week”
“BRITISH MARKET OPEN IN SEPTEMBER”
Pointing out that he did not expect the British market to open before September, Kavaloğlu said, “However, England receives great criticism for not being able to go abroad. The fact that the new variants were the starting point put them in a bit of a difficult situation. We should not accept tourists from England unless the cases in England decrease to a certain level. England should not open to Turkey until the British solve the problem within themselves,” he said.
“IN ANTALYA THE SEASON CONTINUES UNTIL THE END OF DECEMBER”
Stating that the season in Antalya will continue until the end of December, Kaan Kavaloğlu said, “This year the tourism season will be extended until the end of the year. November and December will also be good months. If he applies the safe tourism certificate well and the pandemic does not increase, this year the tourism season in Antalya will continue until the end of the year,” he said.
