Saudi Arabia allows stores to remain open during prayer times after 40 years of ban

Saudi ArabiaAccording to the news of ‘s Al-İhbariyye channel, in a written statement from the Union of Chambers of Saudi Arabia, it was stated that the stores were allowed to be kept open and to continue all their commercial and economic activities during the specified working hours in a way that would allow sellers, employees and customers to pray.

In the statement, it was noted that the decision was taken in order to protect the health and safety of sellers and customers, within the framework of the measures implemented to prevent the spread of the new type of corona virus (Covid-19), and to prevent crowds and long waits due to closing at prayer time.

Based on the executive regulations of the Emir Bil Maruf and Nehyi Anil Münker (Ordering Good and Refraining from Evil) delegation in 1980, it had been forbidden to keep stores open during prayer time and to carry out commercial activities across the country for nearly 40 years.

Saudi Arabia has witnessed extensive political, social and cultural changes in recent years, including abandoning a set of laws and traditions that had been in place for decades.

The most important of these changes was the fact that women were allowed to drive, enter the football field, and practice occupations previously performed only by men.
