Russia launches temporary restrictions on flights in its airspace over the Black Sea


According to reports in the Russian press, the restrictions under the published NOTAM will be valid until April 24, starting today.

According to the statement, while some airspaces over the Black Sea basin and Crimea were completely closed to flight, in some regions airspaces above different heights were closed to flights.

The notice emphasized that the area was temporarily declared dangerous for flights.

According to the statement made by Russia’s Black Sea Navy, it was stated that more than 20 warships exercised in the Black Sea within the framework of training and inspection organizations during the winter period, and it was stated that Su-25CM3 warplanes and air defense systems were also included in the exercise.

It was reported that Russia was deployed in Crimea, where it illegally annexed more than 50 warplanes in the Southern Military District.

On April 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that from April 24 to October 31, it would suspend the use of Russian territorial waters for foreign warships and other state ships in some regions of the Black Sea.
