Russian Ministry of Energy announced the Pakistan agreement with Russia.
According to the statement made by the Ministry, an agreement was reached between the two countries for the construction of the natural gas pipeline called “Pakistan Stream”.
In the statement made by the Ministry, it was stated that Russian Energy Minister Nikolay Şulginov and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow, Shekhket Ali-Khan, signed an agreement for the construction of the Pakistan Stream project.
Pointing out that the two countries are doing important work for the preparation of the agreement, the statement said, “With this agreement, our companies will be able to start the implementation of the project in the near future. Thanks to the project, Pakistan’s energy security will be strengthened with an environmentally friendly resource such as natural gas.”
USA SANCTION RISK
An intergovernmental agreement was signed between Russia and Pakistan in October 2015 for the construction of the “North-South” natural gas pipeline, which is about a thousand kilometers long and has a gas capacity of 12.4 billion cubic meters per year.
However, due to the risk of imposing sanctions against some Russian companies in the project consortium, the partnership structure of the project was changed on March 22 and the name of the project was determined as Pakistan Stream.
