DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE 25 NATURE PARKS IN ISTANBUL?
Pier 55, formerly known as Little Island, in the Meatpacking District, one of the most trendy areas of the city, was built on 132 tulip-shaped concrete columns of varying heights. While this ‘floating’ park offers its guests the chance to watch the unique views of the city from the water, on the other hand, it offers different experiences including an amphitheater, two live performance stages and a dining area. Events in the 687-seat amphitheater began in June; Until September, 500 entertaining and educational events are planned to be organized.
Heatherwick Studio, which designed the park, and MNLA, which landscaped it, aimed to make it as green as possible. There are 350 species of trees, flowers and shrubs in the park. All the plants have been chosen to offer a surprise and inspiring experience to the visitors walking around the park.
The park will take on different colors with the seasons, with the flowering trees and shrubs, the leaves turning red in autumn and the evergreen plants included in this special selection. Some of the 114 tree species planted will reach almost 20 meters tall when grown.
Slightly larger than a football field, Little Island is a small park like its name, but thanks to the uniqueness of its design and location, the experiences it will provide for its guests will be big. NEW YORK GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS
