Mortar shell from Iraq-Iran War exploded: 1 dead

According to Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency, a mortar shell from the Iran-Iraq war that ended in 1988 exploded in the Jalaliya region of Kermanshah province in the western part of the country.

It was reported that 1 person died and 1 person was seriously injured in the explosion.

The war between Iran and Iraq, which started on September 22, 1980, ended on August 20, 1988, with the United Nations Security Council resolution 598, accepted by both sides.

Ammunition such as mines and unexploded mortar shells laid on the borders during the war years still cause death or injury in both countries.
