Morgan Stanley reveals that some customers’ personal information was stolen

Morgan Stanley announced that the personal information of some of its corporate customers was stolen in a data breach in January, which included a third party, and that hackers obtained information such as social security numbers.

Among the stolen files are customer names, addresses, birth dates and company names.

In a July 2 document, Morgan Stanley announced that Guidehouse, a third-party company that provides maintenance and repair services to the bank’s StockPlan Connect unit, notified the breach in May.

The Guidehouse informed the bank that it found no evidence of the stolen data being spread over the internet.
