Merkel stated that they evaluated the developments in the Covid-19 outbreak at the press conference held after her online meeting with the state prime ministers.
“At the moment, the developments in terms of the number of Covid-19 cases are extremely pleasing.” Merkel said that the efforts made in the last months have paid off.
Merkel emphasized that favorable weather conditions also contributed to this issue and that the success in vaccination was seen.
However, Merkel, warning that Covid-19 did not disappear, stated that she was concerned about the rapid spread of the Delta variant of Covid-19, which was first seen in India in England.
Merkel urged the public to be careful and noted that the situation in the epidemic should be constantly monitored.
THE NUMBER OF NEW CASE CONTINUES THE DECREASE TREND
According to the statement made by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), 3,187 more people were diagnosed with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. Thus, the total number of cases in the country increased to 3 million 709 thousand 129.
The number of people who lost their lives in the last 24 hours increased by 94 to 89 thousand 585.
The number of new cases seen per 100 thousand people per week was determined as 19.7. This number, which was 41 on May 27, was announced as 20.8 yesterday.
The number of new cases, which was 12 thousand 298 on 20 May, decreased to 6 thousand 313 on 27 May and to 4 thousand 640 on 3 June.
In the ongoing vaccination campaign in Germany, the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine was given to 39 million 97 thousand 643 people and the second dose to 19 million 857 thousand 285 people. Thus, a total of 58 million 954 thousand 928 doses of vaccine have been administered in the country since 27 December 2020.
