In Mexico, the mayoral candidate was killed in a gun attack before the local elections held throughout the country.

According to Mexican media reports, Rene Tovar, a candidate for the mayor of the city of Cazones de Herrera in the state of Veracruz, was attacked at home by unknown persons.

In the attack, Tovar lost his life.

Thus, the number of politicians killed in Mexico in the last 9 months rose to 90.
