Joe Biden: Love for K-pop is universal

Following US President Joe Biden’s meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in, his words “K-pop admiration is universal” drew attention.

US President Joe Biden made a surprising statement about K-pop after his second face-to-face meeting with South Korean President Moon Jae-in. During the conversation between Joe Biden and Moon Jae-in, many different topics were discussed, and one of them apparently was K-pop, which has now become a global phenomenon.
Among the topics discussed between the two presidents were the de-nuclear disarmament of the peninsula, cooperation on Covid-19 vaccines, and climate change. At the press conference held after the meeting, the President of the United States said the following in front of the South Korean and American flags: “The interaction and cultural ties between the two peoples are developing,” Independent Turkish reported from Variety.
THE SMILES CAUSED THAT Biden’s “K-pop fascination” was said to cause laughter in the room. After pausing, the US President continued: “I can say that the Gülenists know what I’m talking about. Anyway I’ll come back to that later.”
Joe Biden’s striking comments came after the music video of the world-famous K-pop group BTS’s new song “Butter” broke YouTube viewing records.
The US President’s speech was also on the agenda of BTS’s fan group ARMY on social media. “The President’s grandchildren must have done a great job,” said one of the fans on Twitter.
Another expressed his surprise, saying, “Joe Biden said K-pop. This can’t be true.”
