Statement by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to increase tension in Jerusalem

Israeli press: Yamina leader Bennett expected to form coalition government with Lapid

According to the news in the Israeli press, Bennett will announce his decision on whether to form a coalition government with Lapid after meeting with his party’s lawmakers this morning.

The report suggested that Bennett “probably” will announce that he has decided to form a coalition government with Lapid.

It was stated that Bennett and Lapid will alternately serve as prime ministers in the coalition government to be established.

IF THE COALITION IS ESTABLISHED, NETANYAHU WILL LOSE THE PRIME MINISTRY SEAT AFTER 12 YEARS

It was noted that if a coalition government is formed, Bennett will be the first to sit in the prime minister’s seat, which Benjamin Netanyahu has held for 12 years without interruption.

No statement has been made yet from both Yamina and the Future There Party regarding the news.

After the election held in Israel on March 23, President Reuven Rivlin appointed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to form a coalition government.

Netanyahu returned the post to Rivlin on May 4, as he could not find enough support to form a coalition government.

Thereupon, Rivlin gave the mandate to form a coalition government on 5 May to Netanyahu’s rival, Lapid.
