Kirkuk Police Department Press Spokesperson Amir Nuri reported that a mortar attack was carried out at an Iraqi military observation point near the town of Dakuk in the south of the city.
Stating that the attack was carried out by members of the terrorist organization DAESH, Nuri stated that 1 soldier was killed and 5 soldiers were injured in the attack.
Nuri noted that operations were carried out near the town of Dakuk and in the rural area south of the district due to the attack.
The terrorist organization DAESH seized all of Iraq’s Mosul, Salahaddin and Enbar provinces and parts of Diyala and Kirkuk in June 2014, and these regions were taken back from the organization over the years.
Former Prime Minister Haydar al-Ibadi announced victory over Daesh on December 9, 2017.
Although it has been 3 years since Iraq was cleared from ISIS, the attacks of the organization continue in the rural areas of the provinces in question.
