It was stated that in 25 states in the USA, there has been an increase in hospitalizations in the last week due to the new type of corona virus (Covid-19) outbreak.
In the data released by the US Department of Health, it was noted that there was an average increase of 1.8 percent in hospitalizations due to the Covid-19 incident in the country’s 25 states and the capital Washington D.C, compared to the previous week, in Michigan, this rate is percent. It was stated that it went up to the 50s and up to 40 percent in South Dakota.
In the data, it was noted that 2 out of every 3 people with Covid-19 patients admitted to the hospital were under the age of 65 and a significant portion of the patients came from regions where vaccination was high.
Rochelle Walensky, Director of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), expressed concerns about the re-escalation of cases in the country as the fourth wave, yesterday, at an online press conference organized by the White House Covid-19 Fight Team.
Walensky, pointing to the rising number of cases despite the acceleration of vaccination efforts, said, “I have a feeling that bad things are going to happen in me. From our current position, there are promising things ahead of us, but now I cannot help myself to be afraid.”
Stating that the country has a long way to go in vaccination, Walensky called on the public to continue to comply with the precautions taken due to the virus.
According to the records of Johns Hopkins University where Covid-19 data were compiled, the number of Covid-19 cases in the USA has approached 30 million 300 thousand and the loss of life has approached 550 thousand.
