Huawei removed from 5G infrastructure in the Netherlands

According to the news of the newspaper Financieele Dagblad, the Netherlands will not be able to use Huawei-owned equipment in 5G infrastructure.

In the report, it was noted that the decision was made after the Dutch security units reported that Huawei was working as an extension of the Chinese state and posed a threat to national security.

The Dutch official of the firm stated that they will continue to supply antennas while confirming that Huawei’s 5G infrastructure has been removed.

The news published by De Volkskrant newspaper last month included allegations that Huawei had been able to access information belonging to the Dutch telecommunications company KPN for about 10 years.

Allegedly, Huawei can listen to the phones of many high-ranking officials, including former Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende, and Chinese dissidents living in the Netherlands.

Previously, the USA, the UK, Belgium and France also banned 5G infrastructure equipment manufactured by Huawei.
