German Chancellor Merkel gets AstraZeneca vaccine

Government Spokesperson Steffen Seibert said in a statement on Twitter that Angela Merkel has the AstraZeneca vaccine today.

Seibert also shared the photo of the vaccination notebook written “Dr. Angela Merkel. Date of birth 17.07.1954” on his account.

After the vaccination, Merkel said, “Today I am happy to be the first vaccine from AstraZeneca. I thank everyone who participated in the vaccination campaign and everyone who was vaccinated. Vaccination is the key to overcoming the epidemic.”

On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz was reported to have the AstraZeneca vaccine.

In the vaccine campaign that started in Germany on December 27, 2020, the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine was given to 15 million 400 thousand people and the second dose of 5 million 400 thousand people to date.
