Evacuation of Saddam’s son-in-law in Iraq after 18 years


The decision published by the Ministry of Justice regarding Mustafa’s release took place in the Iraqi local press.

In the decision, it was said, “Central Criminal Court, the crimes attributed to Cemal Mustafa were annulled due to lack of evidence and it was decided to release him”.

Jamal Mustafa, 66, the husband of Saddam’s youngest daughter Hala, served as a colonel in the Iraqi army. Mustafa was arrested for being on the wanted list during the 2003 US invasion.

In 2017, the Iraqi Parliament passed a law to confiscate the movable and immovable properties of Saddam Hussein and his wife, children, first and second degree relatives, and Mustafa was included in the scope of this law.
