Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava announced at a press conference that the bodies of 6 more people were found in the wreckage of the building, bringing the total number of dead to 60.
Noting that 80 people are still missing, Cava said, “We are working day and night to remove the victims from the rubble and to end this tragedy as quickly as possible for the families.” he said.
No one has been pulled alive from the rubble since June 24, when the building collapsed.
On the 14th day of the search and rescue efforts, the authorities announced yesterday that the possibility of finding live people from the wreckage is no longer possible, and that they will concentrate on finding missing persons and removing the wreckage from now on.
On the other hand, it was stated that a grand jury investigation was launched regarding the collapse of the building, and it was shared that at least 6 lawsuits have been filed against the owners of Champlain Towers by the families in the building.
