Clash between cartels in Mexico: 18 dead


The Mexican state of Zacatecas was the scene of conflict between the cartels.

Zacatecas State Public Security Minister Arturo Lopez announced that the conflict broke out between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel, and 18 people were killed.

Stating that the conflict took place in a mountainous area on the way to San Juan Capistrano and Tulillo in the city of Valparaiso, Lopez said that they were trying to locate the criminals.

Lopez noted that the prosecutor’s office continues to investigate the crime scene, that there were two burned vehicles at the scene and there were burnt bodies in them.

It was also reported that military units, National Guard, investigative police and state attorney general’s personnel launched a joint operation after the conflict.
