Cargo ship dragged by typhoon ran aground in Philippines: 4 dead, 9 missing

The cargo ship “LCT Cebu Great Ocean”, dragged by the typhoon in the south of the Philippines, ran aground. While 4 people died in the incident, 9 people disappeared.

Search and rescue teams in the region stated that 7 people who jumped from the sinking ship were rescued.

It was recorded that the ship, which has a total of 20 personnel, was loaded with nickel ore and approximately 2 thousand liters of diesel fuel.

Employees rescued after the accident reported to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) crews that they had abandoned the ship, which was raking and taking water due to the effect of the typhoon.

PCG crews announced that the abandoned ship was found stranded in the Surigao del Norte area on April 20, about 60 kilometers from its anchorage.
