Tayfur Solak, who is in charge of the store where souvenirs are sold to tourists at the entrance of Göreme Open Air Museum, one of the most visited places in Cappadocia, stated that the daily flight from Ukraine to the region makes tourism professionals happy.
Noting that tourists coming to the region can participate in many events, especially the hot air balloon tour, Solak said that Ukrainians place products suitable for their shopping preferences on the shelves.
Expressing that they hope that the calm in tourism will be left behind due to the epidemic, Solak said, “We will start working at full capacity this year. We are waiting for Ukrainian tourists. We have made our preparations, especially souvenir handicraft products and bags for them.”
Fatmanur Cingil, the manager of an accommodation facility in the region, expressed his happiness that the Ukrainian tourists came directly to the region and said, “Last year we did not have a good tourism season due to the epidemic. There are few people coming from Ukraine at the moment, but it would be a great advantage for us to start a direct flight. . We started to receive pre-reservations from Ukraine. We can say that we will close the deficit of last year this year, “he said.
Turkey Travel Agencies Union (TÜRSAB) Cappadocia Regional Representative Council Deputy Chairman Mehmet Keçeci also said that especially for Orthodox Cappadocia claimed a tourism destination. Explaining that they organize fairs and events for the promotion of Cappadocia in Slavic countries, especially in Russia, Keçeci said that travel enthusiasts in these countries, who generally prefer beaches, believe that they will show great interest in history, culture and nature tourism in the next period.
Stating that the cultural richness on a wide area with fairy chimneys, underground cities and historical monasteries carved from rocks will be admired by Ukrainian tourists, Keçeci said: “Ukrainians and Russians who will come to Cappadocia love nature. They know that the symbol of St. George lived in Cappadocia in the past, so Cappadocia is a powerful place for the Orthodox world. Balloon tours have already created a serious demand for young people in countries such as Russia and Ukraine in recent years. At the same time, they stay long when they come to Cappadocia.
