Who is Bernard Tapie?

Bernard Tapie, who served as the Minister of Civil Affairs in France between 1992-1993, faced a series of legal scandals while establishing his sports and media empire. Having purchased a 72-meter yacht and football club Olympique de Marseille, Tapie spent 5 months in prison for a series of lawsuits related to corruption, tax fraud and misuse of company assets after declaring bankruptcy in the 1990s. After Tapie was released from prison in 1997, he acted and performed as a singer and appeared in TV shows.
