According to the Interfax news agency, the Russian Air Force shot down a camp in the northeast city of Palmyra. 200 militants were killed in the air strike.
Two bunkers, 24 heavy machine gun pickups, approximately 500 kilograms of ammunition and hand-made explosive material were also destroyed in the attack.
Russian officials did not explain which armed group fighting against the Syrian administration was targeted.
The London-based Human Rights Observatory claimed that 26 ISIS terrorists were killed in the attack.
The observatory stated that the attack may have been organized in response to allegations that two Russian soldiers were killed.
