Former US President Donald Trump made a written statement regarding the withdrawal process of American troops from Afghanistan and stated that he found the step of the Joe Biden administration very positive.
Trump said in his statement, “Getting out of Afghanistan is a great and positive job. I planned the withdrawal for May 1, we should make this process as close as possible to this date.” Trump stated that September 11, which is set for the withdrawal process, is a bad mourning day for the US history and should remain that way.
“THE USA IS LEAVING AFGHANISTAN IN THE EMPTY”
Former President Trump, in his February 2020 deal with the Taliban, pledged that US troops would withdraw from Afghanistan by May 1, 2021, in return for certain conditions.
President Biden, who took office on January 20, announced that the withdrawal schedule of around 2,500 soldiers would start on May 1 and be completed by September 11, 2021.
While Democrats in the US Congress generally support Biden’s withdrawal plan, most Republicans argue that “the US has left Afghanistan in a vacuum” and that “terrorist elements will multiply there again”.
