A ray of hope from the UN to families struggling with DMD


Due to the high cost of gene therapies for life-threatening rare diseases, Duchenne Muscle Disease Fighting Association (DMD – Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Families Association), which sought support from the United Nations (UN), received a positive response to its application.

These diseases, which are costly to treat, were included in the UN’s ‘Leaving No One Behind’ declaration.

It has been announced that if the countries support, sickness expenses will be included in the universal health insurance.

The families of DMD patients, who stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that they would sign the decision on behalf of Turkey before the end of the year, waited with hope.
