It has been reported that 81 children died in Nasarawa state of the West African country, Nigeria, due to malnutrition.
Nasarawa State Nutrition Coordinator Hajiya Halima Yusuf stated that despite efforts in recent years, especially in child nutrition and breastfeeding, 5,000 children in the state are facing malnutrition.
Noting that more than 2 thousand children were treated in different hospitals in the region, Yusuf said that 81 children died due to malnutrition.
Yusuf stated that the campaign initiated by the government in cooperation with the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) within the scope of combating malnutrition in the country continues.
In Nigeria, approximately 35 million children suffer from malnutrition due to the Boko Haram attacks.
